Winter Program your thermostat to 69 degrees when you[re home and awake, and cooler when you go to bed. Consider wearing a sweater or adding a blanket to the bed if that’s too cool for you.
When you’re away at work, you can program the temperature to go even lower, say 60 degrees or so.
Summer Program the thermostat to raise the temperature when you’re away, and to lower it to 75 degrees when you’re home. If you have the humidity levels set correctly, this will be comfortable.
Vacation Program the thermostat for however many days you will be away, raising the temperature when it’s summer, and lowering the temperature when it’s winter.
Never set the temperature above 80 degrees in the summer. You run the risk of high humidity and making your refrigerator and freezer work too hard.
If you’re away from home in the winter, you can program the thermostat as low as 50 degrees, assuming you don’t have pets or plants in the home. 65 degrees would be more suitable if you have plants or pets.
